Ethereum Launches New Test Net Zinken as "Last" Dress Rehearsal for ETH 2.0
The Ethereum development team has launched the new test net Zinken as a "last" dress rehearsal before the launch of ETH 2.0. Zinken has been relatively smooth, unlike the previous test net Spadina which failed due to numerous issues.
Zinken and another test net, Medalla, are part of the Ethereum developers' efforts to transition the network to a POS mechanism, which will bring faster and cheaper network response times.
The team is currently reviewing and making final preparations for the mainnet launch. The launch of the Ethereum 2.0 beacon chain genesis is expected to happen within six weeks, according to Ethereum developer Ben Edgington.

Beacon Chain Update: Four Clients to Run on Launch
It is expected that four high-quality, audited, and tested clients - Teku, Lighthouse, Nimbus, and Prysm - will be able to run when the Beacon Chain is launched. Another Zinken test network test is expected to be conducted in mid-October, after which the deposit contract will be deployed within a few days, with the goal of achieving the Beacon Chain's genesis within six weeks.
